Bob Ekers :
Guitar, Keyboards, Composition/arranging.
Bob’s early musical life was as guitarist with several Southend based pop/rock bands, often featuring his brothers Joe and Mick. An ever-growing family and ‘real job’ took over and Bob retired from playing music until his interest in musical theory was re-awakened and he belatedly undertook a formal music education.Meanwhile, the boogie piano styles of Jerry Lee Lewis and the blues greats had always excited him and the discovery of pianist, author and educator Tim Richards galvanised him into taking piano playing seriously. With a surfeit of good piano players at the Goldsmiths Diploma class, his dormant guitar skills were called upon and now he is dedicated equally to both instruments.
Bob has a strong interest in, and knowledge of, jazz and jazz harmony, but still loves the excitement of good blues, boogie, country and rock’n’roll.
